But the past 35 years of experiences of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) are indicating many shortfalls in the implementation part.
It is evident that’s it’s the high time to neglect the crucial issue like malnutrition among the children of Madhya Pradesh considering its social repercussions in the long run. In this context Vikas Samvad in association with Right to Food Campaign Madhya Pradesh Support Group and Sanket Development Group conducted a “Study on the ICDS and Child Survival Issues in Madhya Pradesh.” This study was attempted to check out the status of ICDS in 12 blocks of 10 Districts of the state. The study is divided into 3 parts – First part is on the structural issues ICDS, Second focuses on the ground reality and the last one is related to budget provisions. Apart from these strategies for addressing the issue of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) is also a part of the study.
This study costs only Rs.100/- and will prove to be a boon to those who are working for the endurance of better implementation of ICDS at ground level.
